하나님께
어떤 것을 간구하면서
그저 앉아만 있다면
하나님을 모욕하는 것이다.
우리는 기도하면서
또한 일해야 한다.
경건과 일은 함께 간다.
건강을 위해 기도한 뒤
늦은 밤에 소화하기 힘든
만찬을 먹으러 간다면
그 기도는
하나님을 무시하는 것이다.
옥상의 물탱크가
열린 것을 알면서도
내버려 두는 자는
가족의 안전을 위해
기도할 자격이 없다.

It is an outrage to ask God to do a thing
while we sit passively.
We must work while we pray
- devotion and work going together.
If a man prays for good health,
and then sits down to a full supper of indigestibles
at eleven o'clock at night, his prayer is a mockery.
A man has no right to pray for the safety of his family

느헤미야는 말합니다.
'한편으로는
우리 하나님께 기도를 드리고
다른 한편으로는 경비병을 세워,
밤낮으로 지키게 하였다.'
하나님은
우리의 기도에 응답하시되
우리의 심부름꾼이 아니라
우리의 동역자이길 원하십니다.

우리가 해야 할 것을
메꾸기 위해
기도를 사용하지 않도록 주의하라.
