기도의 본질

기도의 본질은
뭔가를 받아내는 것이 아니라
주님께 마음을 열고,
주님과 대화하며,
영원한 교통 가운데
살아가는 것이다.
기도는
주님 앞에서
끊임없이 포기하는 것이다.
모든 생명의 근원되신
주님만을
소유하고자 하는 열정이다.
진정한 기도의 영은
축복을 요청하는 데
있는 것이 아니라,
모든 복의 공급자이신
주님을 모시고
그 분과 교제하는 삶을
사는 것이다. - 선다 싱

The essence of prayer
doesn't consist in asking God for something
but in opening our hearts to God,
in speaking with Him, and living with Him in perpetual communion.
Prayer is continual abandonment to God.
Prayer is the desire to possess God Himself, the Source of all life.
The true spirit of prayer does not consist in asking for blessings,
but in receiving Him who is the giver of all blessings,
and in living a life of fellowship with Him.
